Art and Ambassador agendas for the week of 2/4-2/8


KINDERGARTEN- GROUNDHOGS AND VALENTINE’S HEART TREE PAINTING
1ST GRADE- CONTINUE UNIT ON JOHNNY GRUELLE, INDIANA ARTIST, DESIGNER AND AUTHOR OF THE RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY BOOKS.
2ND GRADE- WARM AND COOL NAMES AND VALENTINE’S HEART PRINTS 
3RD GRADE- WINTER TREE PAINTINGS CONTINUED.
4TH GRADE- MOBILES IN THE STYLE OF ALEXANDER CALDER CONTINUED.
5TH GRADE- QUILLED HEARTS CONTINUED
6TH GRADE- TUESDAY, 2-5. OAXACAN STYLED WOODEN ANIMAL SCULPTURES CONTINUED AND STUDENTS WILL HAVE A PREWRITING HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT FOR THE ESSAYS ON ARTISTS. PREWRITING WILL BE DUE ON MONDAY, 2-11.

7TH GRADE- MONDAY, 2-4 AND FRIDAY 2-8. WE ARE STILL WORKING ON CITIES USING 2 POINT PERSPECTIVE. ALL 7TH GRADE STUDENTS NEED TO CHOOSE AN ARTIST TO WRITE ABOUT IN AN UPCOMING PROJECT. ARTISTS MUST BE CHOSEN BY MONDAY, 2-4 AND STUDENTS SHOULD BRING COMPUTER GENERATED OR HAND WRITTEN BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTIST WHEN THEY COME TO CLASS THAT DAY. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT ASK MIDDLE SCHOOL HOMEROOM TEACHERS TO PRINT THE INFORMATION MONDAY. IT SHOULD BE IN HAND WHEN STUDENTS ARRIVE MONDAY MORNING. A PREWRITING ASSIGNMENT FOR THE ARTIST ESSAY WILL BE ASSIGNED FOR HOMEWORK ON FRIDAY 2-8 AND THAT WILL BE DUE ON 2-14
8TH GRADE- THURSDAY, 2-7. DUE TO A 2 HOUR DELAY ON 2-1, WE ARE A BIT BEHIND THE ESSAY LISTED IN THE 6TH AND 7TH GRADE SECTIONS ABOVE. ALL 8TH GRADE STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT TO PRINT OR WRITE BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION ABOUT AN ARTIST FROM HISTORY. THEY ALSO NEED TO LOOK AT EXAMPLES OF THE ARTIST’S WORK AND KNOW A BIT OF HISTORY ABOUT THE ERA THE ARTIST LIVED IN. THE ASSIGNMENT WILL BE GIVEN ON 2-7 AND BE DUE ON 2-12.  WE WILL ALSO CONTINUE WORK ON ELECTRON MICROSCOPE DRAWINGS. THIS PROJECT WILL BE CHANGING FROM A PAINTING TO A COLORED PENCIL DRAWING. 8TH GRADERS ALSO HAVE AN ALTERED BOOK ASSIGNMENT (VALENTINE’S DAY) DUE ON MONDAY, 2-18

AMBASSADORS- AMBASSADORS WILL MEET ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH, BEFORE MASS. WE WILL CONTINUE DISCUSSION ABOUT HOW TO BE A BETTER AMBASSADOR AND HOW TO USE LIFELINES IN OUR EVERYDAY LIFE. ALL AMBASSADORS NEED TO TURN IN A PARAGRAPH THAT LETS ME KNOW IF THEY WANT TO CONTINUE WITH THE PROGRAM, WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A GOOD AMBASSADOR AND IDEAS ABOUT HOW WE CAN MAKE THE PROGRAM BETTER. THIS IS NOT A FORMAL ESSAY, BUT AN INFORMATIONAL PIECE FOR THE COACHES TO USE. WE ARE HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH AMBASSADORS NOT BEING PREPARED SO WE A CONSIDERING A FEW CHANGES IN THE PROGRAM.
